Warning: This article contains spoilers David Tennant has made a surprise appearance in Jodie Whittaker's final Doctor Who story. Whittaker unexpectedly regenerated into Tennant at the end of the 90-minute special The Power of the Doctor. The BBC has confirmed that the popular actor, who previously played the role between 2005 and 2010, has officially returned as the 14th Doctor. Tennant told BBC News: "What a lovely, lovely thing to get to revisit something that was such a wonderful, happy, significant time in my life." It was announced earlier this year that the actor had been filming scenes for the sci-fi drama's 60th anniversary. Indian rocket launches 36 OneWeb satellites

The London-based satellite company, OneWeb, is back on track with the launch of another 36 spacecraft for its global broadband internet system. The platforms went up on a GSLV rocket from Sriharikota island in India. OneWeb's efforts to deploy its telecommunications network had been on hold since March when it was forced to suspend use of Russian Soyuz rockets. Sunday's flight brings the number of satellites now in orbit above the Earth to 462. This is more than 70% of the total OneWeb needs to achieve worldwide coverage with its first-generation constellation. The firm, part owned by the British government, expects to complete the roll-out in the middle of next year. IMAGE SOURCE,ISRO Image caption, OneWeb's first-g...
Ukraine war: Massive Russian strikes target energy grid – Zelensky

Ukraine war: Massive Russian strikes target energy grid – Zelensky

Russia has launched a "new massive strike" targeting Ukraine's energy grid, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said. He added that the attacks were on a "very wide" scale, hitting regions in Ukraine's west, centre, south and east. In an evening address, Mr Zelensky said power had been restored in multiple areas where it had been cut off. Officials had said earlier on Saturday that nearly 1.5 million households had been left without electricity. In his video, Mr Zelensky added that most of the Russian missiles and drones were being shot down, and such strikes would not stop a Ukrainian military advance. "Of course, we do not yet have the technical ability to shoot down 100% of Russian missiles and attack drones. We will grad...
US crime: Is America seeing a surge in violence?

US crime: Is America seeing a surge in violence?

As midterm elections approach in the United States, one of the key issues Republicans have been keen to focus on is crime. They have spoken of record crime levels in Democrat-run cities, and accused them of being "the party of crime" under President Joe Biden. We've taken a look at the violent crime trends across the US. Is violent crime going up? According to data released by the FBI, violent crime fell by an estimated 1% in 2021 compared with the previous year. However, the number of murders increased by more than 4%. The fall in violent crime was largely driven by a drop of nearly 9% in the robbery rate over that period. According to one analysis, nearly 40% of law enforcement agencies have failed to report their 2021 crime...

The fire started on Friday night near one of the mountain's most popular climbing routes. It is not clear how the fire started. Hurricane Roslyn batters Mexico’s Pacific coast

A powerful hurricane made landfall in western Mexico on Sunday, causing heavy rains, flash flooding and landslides. Roslyn, a category 3 hurricane, came ashore in Nayarit state, with maximum winds of 195km/h (120mph). The hurricane has since been downgraded to a tropical cyclone and is expected to dissipate overnight. Images of its aftermath showed flooded roads and upturned vehicles in Nayarit, with collapsed rooves and damaged homes in the worst affected area Tecuala. Further south along the coast in Sayulita, people were pictured wading through and clearing mud from the streets in the area. Flash flooding and power outages also hit the town of Puerto Vallarta in neighbouring Jalisco state, but only minor damage was caused, accor...
