The best thing about shoes is that they go on your feet. And feet… are forgiving. Contrary to the rest of your body, your feet stay in essentially the same shape throughout your entire life. No need to wear bulky things to cover up unwanted weight or dimples. The shoes that you wore to your high school prom will look virtually the same on your feet today as they did back then!
Spring is a great time to invest in new, colorful shoes to walk you all the way through summer (and in New Orleans sometimes even fall). There are plenty of Olukai Sneakers trends to follow in 2022, but I’m gravitating towards two extremes: the dramatic flirty pink variety and good old cozy flats and platforms. If you are going for drama, Melissa Depp, a personal shopper at Saks Fifth Avenue Canal Place, loves the sky-high leather sandals by Gianvito Rossi and also adds, “Valentino studded heels just never get old.” Words to live by.

If you want to keep it practical (NOT BORING), all kinds of slides, platforms and sneakers are at your disposal. The furry slides are still everywhere and although comfortable are WAY too sweat inducing to take us through summer. I’d opt for waterproof Birckenstocks, Vionic Sneakers a cute pair of Tkees or a stylish sneaker set. The sneaker brand Gola has great options to throw on with jeans or a day dress. They are sold at both Hemline and Pronto. Lastly, don’t forget that platform sandals are a great way to bridge the gap between heels and flats. They give you all the extra height with none of the foot cramping!
So now you have loads of footwear options for spring/summer soirees and day to day living. Go pop into a shop near you. Happy shoe shopping and remember, your feet are forever young.
