Authorities in the eastern Caribbean said they were trying to locate two people believed to be US citizens who were aboard a yacht that was hijacked by three escaped prisoners from Grenada. The Royal Grenada Police Force said in a statement released on Friday that they were working on leads "that suggest" the two occupants of the yacht might have been killed. "This investigation is in its infancy stage," police said. The nonprofit Salty Dawg Sailing Association identified the owners as Ralph Hendry and Kathy Brandel. On June 6, 2023, Kristel Candelario, 32, left Jailyn Candelario alone at her home in the 3100 block of West 97th Street in Cleveland. She told police that she had left the 16-month-old at home alone while she went on vacation for a week, court records state. An investigation conducted by Cleveland Police revealed that Kristel Candelario left the child alone and unattended until June 16 while she vacationed in Detroit, Michigan and Puerto Rico, according to a news release from the Cuyahoga County Prosector's Office. One year after the conclusion of the world's biggest trial of a four-day work week, a large majority of companies that took part were still allowing their employees to work a shorter week and more than half had made the change permanent. For six months between June and December 2022, workers at 61 organisations in the United Kingdom worked 80 per cent of their usual hours — for the same pay — in exchange for promising to deliver 100 per cent of their usual work. At least 89 per cent of those firms were still operating the policy and at least 51 per cent had made the four-day week permanent at the end of 2023, according to a report published by one of the trial's organisers. Initial indications are that a United States MQ-9 Reaper drone that crashed near Hodeidah in Yemen on Monday was shot down by a Houthi surface-to-air missile, an American official said. Previously, officials said it was unclear if the drone had been shot down or simply crashed. A spokesperson for the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen said in a statement posted to X on Monday that the MQ-9 was shot down "with a suitable missile." The incident is still being investigated.
