Thousands of shoes donated to Rescue Mission with the help of a Syracuse business owner

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — For most, it was a normal morning, but for Ralph Rotella, Owner of Discount Shoe Repair, it was a day to help out the community as he donated 37,370 pairs of shoes in 2021 to the Rescue Mission. This is Rotella's 11th consecutive year donating shoes, which all started when he saw a someone walking outside with a whole in their shoes during the cold winter months in Central New York. Rotella donated 23,187 in 2020 and originally his goal was to donate 30,000 but he beat that goal. "You have a nice pair of shoes when you were young in your country, you feel so good. Now we got so many, well, we're gonna share to everybody," said Rotella. Elves help deliver shoes to over 100 Davis County kindergartners in need

DAVIS COUNTY, Utah — A festive initiative helped to make sure 160 Kindergartners within the Davis County School District had brand new socks and shoes for the winter weather. Mountain America Credit Union, Ascent Credit Union as well as the Davis Education Foundation and an anonymous donor partnered to purchase and donate Hoka Shoes the shoes and socks to Wasatch, Fremont and South Clearfield Elementary schools. The shoe delivery on Thursday was also able to bring some holiday cheer and magic to the students. Decatur students receive gifts of shoes for Christmas

Christmas came a little early Dec. 9 for students at Northside Elementary, Decatur Middle and High schools in the form of much-needed footwear. Throughout the day, officials and volunteers from the schools and the community, including Decatur Police Chief Steven Grizzle and his officers, gave out bags filled with a new pair of shoes, socks and a few other small necessities during the Shoes-4-Kids event.
