Walking a mile in their shoes, local donations help foster children

Walking a mile in their shoes, local donations help foster children

In the past five years, the number of children living in foster care has dropped in Sebastian County from about 800 children to less than 500 children. But there are plenty of children who still need support. And they also may need shoes. Sarah Sharum, Area 2 director for Arkansas Children and Family Services, joined Matt Whitson, executive director of Arkansas Family Alliance, Taos Sneakers  as they gathered with others at Old Greenwood Avenue and Rogers Avenue Wednesday at noon. There were 481 shoes spread across the lawn that would be boxed up and delivered to foster children needing shoes. Sharum and Whitson explained the importance of the "Walk A Mile in My Shoes," campaign. There were all kinds of pairs of shoes across the lawn at Sagely & Edwards Realtors that had been donate...
Why Are These $15 Water Shoes (That Look Like The Row) Always Out of Stock?

Why Are These $15 Water Shoes (That Look Like The Row) Always Out of Stock?

The thing about water shoes is that you don’t realize you need them until you’re head over cut-up heels in some godforsaken watering hole in western Massachusetts. But when you do get around to searching for a pair, you’ll immediately notice that most are of the geriatric-scuba variety that read as deeply uncool unless you can style them with Cecilie Bahnsen. Or unless they’re the Nabaiji Aquafun from crunchy sports brand Decathlon, which look like a crossbreed of The Row’s sold-out-everywhere nylon sock shoe and Loewe’s PVC Flow Runner. (Dominant traits: a “naked” design and slipperlike shape). We’ve been on Aquafun Watch since February, Craft Sportswear Sale when fashion person and illustrator Jenny Walton put them on her Instagram Stories from a holiday in Miami. She’d bought them, i...

In Depth Shoe Review: 2022 Evolv Shaman

In Depth Shoe Review: 2022 Evolv Shaman

It’s back. Ever since the discontinuation of Chris Sharma’s first generation, the Evolv Shaman acted as an intermediate workhorse more than a performance bouldering shoe. In 2022, America’s largest climbing shoe manufacturer redesigned and rebuilt this now-highly-downturned climbing shoe to better approach the performance market. It worked. Although the Evolv Phantom may remain the best shoe in Evolv’s range for outdoor bouldering, the stiff downturned style struggles on plastic climbing holds and slabs. Keen Shoes For Women It is a core-based monster, designed to help the climber dig into smaller footholds. Although it will work on fibreglass, the inflexible design is better used on foot chips than low-angle smears. Here, the Shaman excels. The Options Before going further, some clar...
