Angelina Jolie alleges ‘history’ of Brad Pitt’s physical abuse prior to 2016 plane ride in new Miraval lawsuit filing

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s fight over the French winery they once owned together is coming to a head and reigniting older conflicts, as new legal documents allege a “history of physical abuse of Jolie” on the part of Pitt prior to their fateful plane ride in 2016. On Thursday, Jolie filed a motion with the Los Angeles Superior Court, a copy of which CNN has obtained, wherein she claims that she attempted to sell Pitt her stake in the Miraval winery and that their negotiations ultimately broke down after Pitt conditioned the sale on Jolie signing an NDA that “prohibited Jolie from speaking (other than in court) about Pitt’s abuse of Jolie and their children by attempting to tie Pitt’s personal reputation to Miraval’s business.” This week’s new filing stems from Pitt’s 2022 lawsuit, in...

Households hoping for cost-of-living relief in this year's federal budget will welcome comments from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese this morning that hinted at extended energy price help in this year's federal budget. In a speech to the COSBOA National Small Business Summit, Albanese touted the package from the last budget that gave eligible families up to $500 off their power bills and eligible small businesses up to $650. "Our government understands that for small business – as for Australian families – energy bills remain a source of financial pressure," he said. UK court orders delay to extradition of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to US on espionage charges

A British court has ruled that Julian Assange can't immediately be extradited to the US on espionage charges, in a partial victory for the WikiLeaks founder. Two High Court judges said they would grant the Australian a new appeal unless US authorities give further assurances about what will happen to him. The ruling means the legal saga, which has dragged on for more than a decade, will continue. The case has been adjourned until May 20. WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. (AP) Judges Victoria Sharp and Jeremy Johnson said that if no assurances are filed by the US, they will grant Assange permission to appeal extradition on grounds including breach of freedom of expression, and because he might receive the death penalty. Six missing workers ‘presumed dead’ and search cancelled after Baltimore bridge disaster

All six workers missing in the aftermath of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse in Baltimore are now presumed dead, with the search for them called off. The collapse occurred after a massive container ship lost power early Tuesday and crashed into the bridge, sending people and vehicles into the frigid river, officials said. Two people were pulled from the ensuing wreckage alive. A day later a body was found and the search continued for six more. They are now all presumed dead. Donald Trump unable to make $707 million bond in civil fraud case, his lawyers tell court

Donald Trump unable to make $707 million bond in civil fraud case, his lawyers tell court

An insurance broker, Gary Giulietti, who testified for Trump during the civil fraud trial, signed an affidavit stating that securing a bond in the full amount "is a practical impossibility." Potential underwriters are seeking cash to back the bond, not properties, according to Trump's lawyers. Trump's lawyers have asked the appeals court to delay posting the bond until his appeal of the case is over, arguing that the value of Trump's properties far exceed the judgment. If the appeals court rules against him, Trump asked the court to delay his posting the bond until his appeal to New York's highest court is heard. Last month, Trump was ordered to pay $541 million in disgorgement, or "ill-gotten gains," by New York Judge Arthur Engoron in a civil fraud case brought by New York...
