He also confused Zelensky for his biggest antagonist. “Do you have a question for President Putin?” Trump said to reporters, gesturing to the Ukrainian leader. Trump also described social media app TikTok as Tic-Tac and Barack Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran as the JCPOC instead of the JCPOA. “This blunder is not an isolated incident – it’s just th...

Trump administration hindering investigation into Epstein’s ranch

The Trump administration is not co-operating with an investigation into crimes committed at Jeffrey Epstein’s ranch in New Mexico, the state’s attorney-general said. Raul Torrez has written to acting federal attorney-general Todd Blanche demanding unredacted documents from the Epstein files in relation to their investigation. Jeffrey Epstein’s Zorro Ranch in New Mexico. AP Torrez said he had waited 130 days for the files. “Without complete and prompt access to relevant unredacted records held by the United States Department of Justice, survivors of serious criminal conduct at Jeffrey Epstein’s Zorro Ranch in New Mexico are being denied justice,” Torrez said in his letter. “That harm is a direct consequence of the (US Department of Justice)‘s continued failure to comp...

US Supreme Court upholds bans on transgender athletes in female school and college sports

Reuters Women hold placards as they celebrate the US Supreme Court's ruling The US Supreme Court has ruled that states can ban transgender women from competing in female school and college sports. The court considered cases from students in two different states who had challenged bans on participation. The two states, Idaho and West Virginia, enacted laws that required public school and college sports teams to compete in accordance with their sex recorded at birth. One of the two challenges said the ban violates equal rights protections in the US Constitution. The other said it contradicts civil rights laws. More than two dozen states have enacted bans since Idaho did so in 2020. President Donald Trump celebrated the decision in a social media post as a...

Trump asks Congress for billions for Iran war, after tension with Republicans

The White House has asked lawmakers to approve $87.6bn (£66.5bn), mostly for "urgent needs" connected with the US war on Iran, a day after Congress passed a resolution rebuking the military action. The bulk of the funding - $67bn - is for the US Department of Defence, the White House said. But the proposal faces an uphill battle in Congress. The Iran conflict is unpopular with voters ahead of the US midterm elections in November, though a ceasefire is currently in effect. US President Donald Trump has also found himself at odds with some members of his Republican Party over the issue of Iran, and is alleged to have ended up in an angry exchange with one senator on Wednesday. That senator, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, was one of a handful of Republicans who defied the president ...

They voted to release the Epstein files. It cost them their jobs

In November, four Republicans broke with their party to force a vote on releasing the Epstein files. And as of yesterday, three of the four are out of a job. Nancy Mace is an enthusiastic Donald Trump supporter but drew his ire when she voted to release the Epstein files. AP Nancy Mace, a conservative firebrand and supporter for sexual assault victims, faced a crushing defeat in her bid to become the next governor of South Carolina. The congresswoman came in fifth place in the gubernatorial primary. Because she ran for governor instead of re-election, she’ll be out of Congress next year. Mace was clear in her concession that her push to release the Epstein files cost her the support she needed. “As a survivor, I chose to stand on principle and stan...
