Clintons to face contempt proceedings after refusing Epstein investigation subpoenas

A senior congressman will begin contempt proceedings against Bill and Hillary Clinton after the couple refused to comply with a subpoena for an investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer threatened the contempt proceedings after the pair did not show up for a scheduled deposition. "Epstein's survivors deserve justice and answers," Comer wrote on X. Bill and Hillary Clinton have refused to testify in the Epstein probe. US military action in Venezuela is seen as both a blessing and a curse for Russia’s Putin

The lightning US operation to capture Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro can be seen as both a benefit and a burden for Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose forces botched an attempt to capture Ukraine's capital and topple its leader at the start of Moscow's invasion nearly four years ago. The ouster of Maduro highlights another Kremlin failure to support an ally, following the downfall of Syria's former President Bashar Assad in 2024 and last year's US and Israeli attacks on Iran. With the US determined to establish control over Venezuela, Russia stands to lose a strategic foothold in the Western Hemisphere, along with billions of dollars invested in its oil industry. Trump says US to get up to 50 million barrels of oil from Venezuela at market price

President Donald Trump said “interim authorities” in Venezuela would sell between 30 million and 50 million barrels of “high quality” oil to the US at its market price. “I have asked Energy Secretary Chris Wright to execute this plan, immediately,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “It will be taken by storage ships, and brought directly to unloading docks in the United States.” Trump said the money would be controlled by him as president, but would be used to benefit the people of Venezuela and the United States. Public release of Epstein records puts Maxwell under fresh scrutiny amid her claims of innocence

Days after Ghislaine Maxwell asked a judge to immediately free her from a 20-year prison sentence, the public release of grand jury transcripts from her sex trafficking case returned the spotlight to victims whose allegations helped land her behind bars. The disclosure of the transcripts as part of the Justice Department’s ongoing release of its investigative files on Maxwell and the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein exposed how an FBI agent told grand jurors about Maxwell's critical role in Epstein’s decades-long sexual abuse of girls and young women. Maxwell, a British socialite and publishing heir, was convicted of sex trafficking in December 2021 after four women told a federal jury in New York City about how she and Epstein abused them in the 1990s and early 2000s. ...

Trump willing to release MRI results, but ‘no idea’ which part of body it examined

US President Donald Trump appeared open to releasing the results of a recent MRI, although he said he was unaware which part of his body was examined in the scan. "If they want to release it, it's OK with me to release it. It's perfect," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One. Pressed by a reporter on which part of his body the MRI examined, Trump said, "I have no idea. It was just an MRI – what part of the body? It wasn't the brain, because I took a cognitive test and I aced it." Netanyahu submits request for pardon during ongoing corruption trial

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked the country's president to grant him a pardon from corruption charges — seeking to end a long-running trial that has bitterly divided the nation. Netanyahu, who has been at war against the country's legal system over the charges, said the request would help unify the country at a time of momentous changes in the region. But it immediately triggered denunciations from his opponents, who said it would weaken Israel's democratic institutions and send a dangerous message that he is above the rule of law.
