If it seems like the Washington football team – now, the Commanders – is always in hot water, it’s because they are.
There’s always something with this club. Whether it’s a long overdue name change, lawsuits and investigations into workplace misconduct, a trade that makes you go hmmm (and oddsmakers go LOL), or teammates fighting each other in the guts of a game —Boston Red Sox Jerseys it always feels like something is happening in our nation’s capital with that football team. And when reports of the team engaging in “potentially unlawful financial conduct” began to surface in April, the Washington football club found itself in the NFL’s crosshairs again.
But the result of this instance could be a landscape-changer, with USA Today’s Jarrett Bell reporting that one NFL owner said there is a group “counting votes” — perhaps in an attempt to push Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder out the door:
It blows my mind that – of all the things that have gone down in D.C. – financial misconduct could be what brings down Snyder’s reign in Washington. The idea that if the allegations levied in a 20-page report by the U.S. House Oversight and Reform Committee that Washington’s franchise was cooking the books and withholding cash that was to be shared with the rest of the NFL feels like it would be straight out of a made-for-TV mob movie. But in reality, it could be “the final nail in the coffin” for the Snyder-led ownership group.
And yet, I’m not sure what to totally make of this. Because, on the surface, it sure feels like Snyder is on thin ice. There’s not been much fire, but there has been far Las Vegas Raiders Jerseys too much smoke stemming from years of incompetence. At some point, it would make sense for NFL owners to say enough is enough and oust someone who is giving the rest of the group bad vibes. Even still … the league would need 24 owners to vote for it and would likely still see Snyder fight tooth-and-nail to keep his club. You know, just as he did to keep the racially insensitive team nickname for as long as he did.
In the end, this just marks the latest chapter in the drama surrounding Washington football. We’ll stay tuned for the followup, as it seems like it will come in due time.
